ABOUT REINFORCEMENT:  I sell saddlebags wtih and without gusset liners.  The finest saddlebags are made without the liners because they don't need it and it uses up interior space.  I do not sell steel-reinforced saddlebags because steel reinforcement adds weight and that's about it.  My leather saddlebags will hold their shape because I use the finest leather in my saddlebags.  The more you see the word "reinforced" ask yourself why a super-thick leather requires added steel and liners.  The finest handmade leather saddlebags don't need reinforcement, except to support the thick leather.  That's the challenge of the internet.  You can't see what you are buying and so gimmicks make a lesser product sound like it has more features.  My leather saddlebags are the finest, without gimmicks and you just have to ask one of customers to know that.  We have "thank you's" from customers with saddlebags that are now almost a decade old and, except for the dings from the road, they're like new.  That's what you want and that's what I sell. 

ABOUT ONE COMPETITOR:  Most of my competitors who sell "Made in USA" leather saddlebags are great!  One, in particular, is selling junk, made in Pakistan and you’ll be wasting hundreds of dollars.   This very slick vendor also sells on Ebay under a different name.   This competitor uses a “US-sounding” name, sells bolt on and throwover "leather" motorcycle saddlebags and has copied a lot of my website style and material, so I feel compelled to comment on it.  His saddlebags are not what they seem.  They are referred to as “thick premium grade heavy-duty leather” and boast “reinforced with steel” referring to a steel frame.   Unfortunately, the saddlebags are ripped-off US designs made from cheap materials and all the steel in the world won't help the basic material of the bags perform.  What this vendor calls “thick Leather Cowhide” is actually a thin skimcoat of water buffalo split leather glued onto a hardbody.  This looks very solid when it arrives if you don’t know a lot about leather, but it’s not really “thick cowhide” at all, just a veneer of thin leather split pieces and deteriorates rapidly when the saddlebags are exposed to the elements.  The “leather” veneered skimcoat buckles and puckers and there’s nothing to do.    If you google this vendor, you’ll find universal comments about bad, bad customer service after saddlebags are purchased.  That said, the “reviews” seem to place the products as a decent deal.  They are not.  Unfortunately, you’re only seeing comments from people right after they’ve received their saddlebags purchase.  Most of us are embarrassed to admit later that we’ve been fooled and tricked into wasting hundreds of dollars.  Please be careful.  Buy only “USA Made” leather saddlebags and, whether you’ve purchased them from me or from one of my competitors, you will receive a product that is most likely exactly as advertised.  Look for "MADE IN USA!"  Semper Fi!
